A Motivational Video about Inner Stress

Have you ever watched a motivational video that spoke to you?  Where the story seemed personalized just for you?

It seems that the best motivational videos appear on my screen at the right times.  I’m writing this article during the pandemic in May 2020.  We are all living in fear yet there are opportunities happening all the time if we just look for them.

  •      Cooking innovate meals with the family
  •      Eating meals together
  •      Dividing chores up while listening to our favorite music
  •      Zoom parties with family or friends
  •      Spending quality time outside
  •      Taking an online course

The motivational video below is one of my favorite stories about a Cherokee grandfather talking about life with his grandson.  Hope you enjoy it also.

Motivational Video Story

A Cherokee grandfather was having a deep conversation with his grandson about life.  The grandfather said, “There is an inner fight going on within me between the bad wolf and good wolf.  The bad wolf is mean, selfish, negative, and a bully.  The good wolf is caring, supportive, positive, and generous.  There’s the same inner fight going on within everyone including you.”  The grandson asks, “Which wolf wins?” The grandfather says, “It depends on the one you feed.”  motivational video

Motivational Video Interpretation by Joyce

I’ve told this story many times to clients who are stuck either with relationships or careers.  They see the meaning immediately when the realization is that most of the time they are feeding the bad wolf.  We then discuss their action steps on how to start feeding the good wolf.  A great first step is to realize how much time we spend feeding the bad wolf.

We can all stop our inner fights as long as we are willing to change this pattern.  It’s not easy to do because there is so much negativity in the world.  It’s hard work to concentrate on the “good wolf.”  Don’t let the negative ones influence you.  Remember, “Don’t walk from negative people – RUN!”

Negative People are Part of Our Reality!

It’s true that negative people are part of our reality.
Here’s a powerful question for you – How many times do you remind yourself that you don’t need to be with people who bring you down?
We all know this, yet many of us don’t know that we can set boundaries and actually change this reality.

Yearly I do a serious job of spring cleaning for clothes, the house, and relationships that are toxic.  You heard me right.  We all have those people who constantly complain yet never change anything in their life.  Life is too short to be around negative people who rain on our or their parade.

Start thinking about how you can and need to spend more time with those who make you laugh, smile, think, learn, etc.  We all have our own definition of toxic people.  Remember this the next time you speak to a friend who complains about everything.  I’m not saying to end the relationship all the time.  Implement a plan to be with those who support you and bring joy to your life.

Please let me know how this motivational poster on negative people speaks to you in the comment section.

Joyce Weiss says to Run Away from Negative People

#negativepeople #motivationalquote

One of my favorite quotes on negative people is, “Don’t walk away from grumpy people, RUN!

Nuke the Negative People negative people

Write the names of negative people who bring you down. Plan to protect yourself from their negativity. Take back your power. Only you can make yourself feel insecure. Tell yourself that no one makes you feel inferior without your consent. It’s the negativity that is so dangerous. It is extremely contagious.

Replace people who pull you down with people who encourage and appreciate you. The choice, in many cases, is up to you. Who encourages you during tough and positive times?

Video #12: David’s Inspirational Story from Take the Ride of Your Life

Do you want to hear how I found inspirational stories from people who overcame obstacles and became successful?
I will be sharing a few of the stories from my book, Take the Ride of Your Life in the next few videos.

Welcome to video #12 in the series Secrets from a Trainer How You Can Engage Your Audience.

 Here’s David’s Inspirational Story

David, an accountant, related this story: “As a boy, I knew my father was proud of me. Unfortunately, he didn’t know how to show
There wasn’t a whole lot of positive attitude in my house,” David remembered. The dictum, “You must behave,” was drilled into him and his siblings time and time again.

“In school, I was the class clown. I couldn’t talk at home,” he said, “so, I had to express myself elsewhere.” David was around ten or eleven years old when he learned how to ride a bike. “Some friends taught me. I used a neighborhood boy’s bike: I didn’t have one of my own. I fell and got up again right away.

I felt good whenever I was on a bike as if anything was possible.” David’s wife has helped him focus on keeping a positive attitude.
Before they were married, she told him: “I won’t marry you if you become like your father.” Today, David is grateful. “I don’t want to
raise my kids the way my father raised me.”

Today’s Lesson From David’s Inspirational Story

  • What lessons did you learn from your childhood?

Video #11: How to Find Your Own Stories to Engage Your Audience

Welcome to Video #11 in the Series Secrets from a Trainer on How to Engage Your Audience.

Clients ask me how they can find their own stories to share in their training or speeches.  I’ve watched many trainers and speakers over my career.  The ones who connect immediately are real and share a story or two about themselves.  Of course, the stories have to be focused on their topic.

I started listening to storytellers in Detroit and learned how they engaged the audience immediately.  This experience allowed me to look inside to find my own stories.  I had to train myself to pay attention to the lessons that I learned from my childhood and the mistakes that I made!  The stories finally appeared like magic.

One of my favorite ones is when my father taught me how to ride my first two-wheel bike.  This story helped me write my 2nd book, Take the Ride of Your Life.  I will read portions of Take the Ride of Your Life in the next few videos.

Today’s Lesson on Finding Your Story to Engage Your Audience

  • What about you?
  • How can you find your story?
  • Dig deep inside.
  • Think of the lessons you learned from your childhood or your career.
  • What mistakes did you make and most importantly, what did you learn?
