Can You Relate to This? It’s All About Self-Care

Happy 2023! I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to touch base about the importance of self-care in the workplace. We know that employees who are well-rested, healthy, and happy are more productive and engaged in their work. That’s why it’s so important to prioritize self-care in the workplace.

My question for you this week is – What about you? Are you making sure that you are balancing work and home? Or is balancing life and work out of whack for you?

Joyce Had a Breakthrough in her Career and Self-Care This Week

We had a flood in our home and had to repaint and recarpet the entire condo. My aha moment came when I looked at the empty walls. I started to breathe with a sigh of relief.

What in the world was going on? It finally dawned on me that the uncluttered walls symbolized my life. I was doing more work and enjoying it less. It was time to gain control again.

I asked myself three questions (the same conversations that I have with my clients) such as:
1. How can I unclutter my day?
2. What changes do I want to make to enjoy my life more?
3. Which tasks get in the way when balancing my ambition with my inner peace?

Next week I’ll share what I decided to change. This is a breakthrough that is changing my life.

How About You and Your Self-Care?

What about you? Please ask yourself the following three questions:

  1. How can I unclutter my day?
  2. What changes do I want to make to enjoy my life more?
  3. Which tasks get in the way when balancing my ambition with my inner peace?

I’m Interested in Hearing Your Thoughts

What do you want to change to balance your ambition with your inner peace?

Let’s work together to create a supportive and healthy work environment for all our employees – especially YOU!

One of the things that I love about my career is meeting new people who are open to change and improving their lives. Let’s set up a complementary laser-focused conversation to discover one thing you can do to unclutter your life.

If I can do this, anyone can! 🙂

Finally, Ideas That Actually Work for You to Gain Control of Your Day!

Hey, Kick Conflict to the Curb Weekly readers!

I sure hope that you are doing well and ready to say goodbye to 2020!

Do you want to hear how I finally got answers on how to gain control of my day and tasks?

I  recently attended an online conference with Amy Porterfield who is the Queen of Creating Digital Courses.  She invited her friend and thought leader, Michael Hyatt to share his wisdom with us.
His ideas blew me away and I started making changes in my life immediately.  The video below describes Hyatt’s Brilliance from his book, Free to Focus.

This short video tells my story and how you can start making changes to gain control of your day also.

https://vimeo.com/493126324

Gain Control of Your Day Idea #1: Create 3 Goals Each Day

Michael Hyatt suggests that we think of 3 goals to complete daily.  Write down these goals.  Once you complete these 3 tasks, you can now spend some quality time doing what you WANT to do.
For example, my 3 goals for today are to record 5 videos for LinkedIn and Facebook, work on Amy Porterfield’s module on creating powerful webinars, and write this blog.

Once I finished these 3 BIG goals, it was time to stop looking for another goal.  Instead, I wanted to read a book for an hour.  This is huge for me because I never stopped doing all the tasks on my plate and of course, there was never time to read what I wanted to read because there was ALWAYS something else to complete. I was on that treadmill and couldn’t get off. Does this sound familiar to you?

Gain Control of Your Day Idea #2:  Hire a Virtual Assistant

I’ve had people help with tasks in the past such as graphic designers, marketers, IT teams, etc. I never thought about giving the tasks that I don’t enjoy doing to a VA who loves this kind of work.
Huge stress has been lifted from me because I have time to spend doing what I want to do. This is not new for most of us. BUT it’s very hard to achieve until we find out that we do have choices.

How can You Gain Control of Your day?

What ideas are speaking to you from my video or message?  This is not rocket science.  It’s achievable once we find what works for us. It’s your turn. Please share your ideas in the comment section.
Are you saying, “Yes, Joyce this sounds great! I’m ready to finally gain control of my day and get off that never stopping treadmill?

Life Coaching Strategies to Help Your Employees Reduce Stress

Are you a leader who wants to learn life coaching strategies?
Do you want to find answers on how to balance your life better?
Are you ready to change one small behavior to reduce stress?

If so, these 3 life coaching strategies will help you get some great results.

After working for the same software company for several years, a young professional moved 90 minutes away from the organization.  Instead of dealing with a grueling commute, she proposed that she could come into the office just one day a week, and work the rest of the time from home. The company leadership agreed.  The woman found a mutually agreeable solution that allowed her to achieve work-life balance.

Unfortunately, many employees in the same situation wouldn’t feel comfortable making such a request.  With so many companies doing more with less, employees need to achieve a better work-life balance… and you can help your organization do just that.

Life Coaching Strategies #1:  Find Out What Coworkers and Employees Need

life coaching strategies

Some workers might want a more flexible office schedule, a compressed workweek, job sharing options, or resources for child care or elder care. Others may want healthy workplace initiatives like on-site exercise classes and wellness lectures.

What can you do?

Create a work-life committee to survey people and find out their needs. Members can then recommend ways the organization might help employees achieve more balanced lives.

Life Coaching Strategies #2:  Relieving the Pressure of Overtime Demands

When demands become rigorous, everyone suffers.

What can you do?

Do something special for coworkers and employees – like providing a dessert, a dinner, or little thank you gestures. Suggest that dedicated people get an afternoon off… and everyone will be rewarded with a newly refreshed coworker.

Life Coaching Strategies #3:  Setting an Example

People who don’t take time for themselves feel more stressed, and consequently, become less productive at work.

What can you do?

Don’t begrudge people their personal time. Encourage others by modeling how important balance is in your life- when you leave at 5:00 p.m. to see your son’s soccer game, realize that you are an outstanding role model!

Concluding Thoughts about these 3 Life Coaching Strategies

Most of us are looking for ways to find more balance in our life.  I constantly look for life coaching strategies for my clients and myself! 🙂  We can lower our stress by changing only one behavior.  If you are a leader bring in speakers from a local health care facility to help your employees learn the newest strategies for lowering stress. There are many books, youtube videos, and classes on finding balance.  Cicero said, Where there is life, there is hope.

The challenge for all of us is finding a solution that fits our individual needs.  I will be sharing more articles and videos on finding balance and reducing stress because my loyal readers and clients keep on asking me to do so.

I want to hear from you

Secrets from a Life Coach to Encourage Work-Life Balance

Do you want to learn 5 secrets from me, your personal life coach to encourage life balance at work?  If so, see if you can relate to these 3 questions.

  • Does your team complain that they have no time for themselves?
  • Is negativity starting to become part of your culture?
  • Is your team walking around like zombies because they are sleep deprived?

We all know that when there is a supportive work atmosphere, the team will be more productive.  Leadership needs to address life balance more so than ever before.  Millennials, Generation X and Baby Boomers all share the same need to make time for themselves after work. This is the new normal.  Companies that address these concerns will become the best and brightest places to work for in their industry.  But what can you do? Try these 5 secrets:

Life Coach Secret #1: Survey people to learn their needs.

Develop a work-life committee to gather information on which flexibility needs your coworkers want and report the findings. Whether they’re dealing with eldercare, childcare or continuing education, you can help give management a better grasp on what the team needs.

Life Coach Secret #2: Take suggestions under advisement.

When people’s personal needs are met, they’re able to concentrate better and be more efficient. Start by asking for one reasonable request – for example, staggering the start and end of workdays. After the company familiarizes itself with flexible schedules, tackle a new need.

Life Coach Secret #3: Make sure desires match positions.

People need to be happy with their work. Do you know someone in accounting who would rather be doing more creative work? Encourage him or her to try a project in that department! The entire company will benefit by having a happier and more productive individual.

Life Coach Secret #4: Recognize signs of burnout.

Do you work with someone who always seems tired, overreacts to minor problems, and has diminishing productivity? Gently broach the subject. He or she may need to schedule a vacation or may need to switch jobs.

Life Coach Secret # 5: Set a good example.

If you occasionally need to take time out of your workday to attend to personal obligations, don’t hide it – you’re actually setting a good example! There will always be projects that compete for your time.  Realize that some personal obligations need to take priority. When your work environment allows people to accomplish both their personal and professional goals, you’ll be rewarded with loyal, happy employees and coworkers … and increased productivity. Start setting yourself apart from the competition today!
