2 Positive Quotes to Help You Look at the Bright Side

Happy Fall Everyone!

This week’s article is all about helping you look at the bright side.  And, you will find 2 positive quotes to get you started.
I decided to take a short break from messages about resolving conflict. There can be so much to celebrate in our life. Even though drama seeps into our day. 🙂

Positive Quotes #1

People ask me why I smile so much. Full disclosure here! My smile lines are huge. Believe me, I don’t show a happy face 24/7. Yes, Joyce Weiss, the upbeat person is a human being.

I choose to be optimistic. It’s in my DNA. And, I’m lucky to have had parents who were such great role models in this area.  They didn’t have it easy like so many of your parents. They did their best to look for opportunities when “life got in our way.”

There is so much negativity surrounding us.  It’s hard at times to disconnect our brains from the bad stuff. It’s a challenge to look for opportunities when we are so gloomy.

This pandemic was tough for all of us.  Obviously, many of us experienced horrific loss and sickness. I was fortunate to join groups like the video rock starz and The World of Business and Executive Coaching Summit (WBECS).  This is where I learned so many new techniques about coaching and online courses. There was literally no time for me to stay stuck. I don’t take this for granted.

What about you? What do you do to stay optimistic about your future?

Positive Quotes #2

positive quote

This is one of my favorite positive quotes. And, it shows up in my life quite often.  Optimism sure helps when we try new things. And, they don’t work out as well as we wanted.  Sound familiar?

I prepared for a master class and invited clients and prospects to my new online course.  The master class was a hit UNTIL – I started aggressively selling. And, it was not the real me. I took courses on how to create a successful master class. And, followed every detail from my instructor since she was the expert.

The moral of this story is that we need to be true to ourselves. The strong selling portion was just not me. People did sign up. That’s not the point! I felt like another person was doing that portion of the master class.

The good news is that we learn when we fall. This wasn’t a huge mistake. BUT, it was enough for me to know that I need to rethink the next master class. Believe me when I say that I learned – no more selling on steroids!

What about you? What lesson did you learn when you “fell off your mountain?”

Think Like Buddha: 1 Easy Lesson to Use Now

Buddah's Quote

Buddha’s quote is one of my favorites when working with growth-minded people.

We all have a  choice on what thoughts we put into our minds.

At times they are positive and nothing will stop us from reaching our goals.
Then there are those negative thoughts that seep into our minds about anger, negativity, insecurity, or doubt.

Buddha’s quote is perfect for anyone who needs a friendly reminder – we can stop ourselves from feeding ourselves such toxic thoughts.

A couple of years ago I knew that one of my TRIGGERS (let’s call her MS. TRIGGER) was attending the same social event.  My past behavior was to prepare myself so that her sarcastic and toxic tone wouldn’t affect me. This time I did an experiment and decided no matter what this person said to either me or the other guests, I wouldn’t open my mouth.
I don’t always have to take on the conflict.

Buddha’s quote was my friendly reminder. I would do my best to control myself when MS. TRIGGER opened her mouth.

Sure enough, MS. TRIGGER didn’t stop talking all night.  There was a “one-versation.”
Normally I would put on my conflict resolution coach hat and try to change the conversation to include others in the dialogue.

Not this time.  It was amazing to watch the other guests look uncomfortable because MS. TRIGGER didn’t take a breath all evening.  She interrupted everyone and was rude to anyone who tried to add his or her opinion.

1 Easy Lesson I Learned and Used From Buddha’s Quote

The moment I entered my car, a friend called me and didn’t stop complaining about MS. TRIGGER.
The great news is that I wasn’t upset because I told myself,   “NOT TO GET INVOLVED.”

It’s that simple, dear readers.

My friend couldn’t sleep that night because she was so riled up about MS. TRIGGER.
I had a great night’s sleep because of this successful experiment.
All I had to do was keep silent.

I know those of you who have been following me know that I encourage clients to speak their voice.
There are times when it’s better to stay silent especially if you don’t want to create more inner stress for yourself.

How Does Buddha’s Quote Speak to You?

Have you experienced a time like this when you attempted to control a conversation and it went sour?
Hopefully, you learned an important lesson – not to get involved in every little drama that appears in our life.

Please share how Buddha’s quote speaks to you in the comment section.
When did you decide to stay silent with an irritating person?  How did this work out?

The next time you know that a Trigger will be at the same meeting or social gathering, what message can you feed yourself?

This stuff works.  I only share real scenarios with you that clients have experienced.
This time, I added my story as a coaching moment for you. 🙂

My Favorite Quote on Inspiration by Rapper Nipsey Hussle

favorite motivational quote

Welcome to our new blog readers! Welcome back to my loyal blog readers!

You will find information about the Weiss Success Communication Plan plus so much more in Kick Conflict to the Curb Weekly Newsletter.

My favorite quote from Nipsy Hussle is more important now since we have time to evaluate our relationships and life during this pandemic.

I’m no longer a member of several networking associations because there are new groups that are more relevant to my new career in the virtual training world. I joined Video Rock Starz with Gina Carr in February. This group of like-minded coaches and speakers has given me new hope and skills.

Many of you know that I launched a new virtual communication course; Kick Conflict to the Curb; Get the Respect YOU Deserve. These classes have supported participants to evaluate their communication skills and relationships. This is powerful for all of us. I’m launching a new class in January 2021 and if you are curious about it, please send me an email and I will send you information about the launch

WBECS is another group (World of Business and Executive Coaching Summit) that I joined because the top coaches in the world teach us the newest coaching techniques. The benefit for you is that I share the best information that my loyal readers will learn and use in their own life.

Do you need to work on your “cages” to find new people or groups that fit your new life during these crazy times?

What new groups have you found to satisfy your personal and professional growth needs?

These times are both positive and negative. I encourage all of you to look for new groups or classes to give you hope and even excitement to do and learn something new.

We want to hear from you. Add your comments to the blog or send me a private email at Joyce@JoyceWeiss.com.

A Great Humorous Quote by Robert Frost

favorite quote | favorite quotes | Joyce Weiss

#RobertFrost  #FavoriteQuote  #FavoriteQuotes  #Humor

The moment I saw this quote, is the moment that I knew I had to share it with you.  Humor is all around us even during tough times.  I’ll never forget a professor in my death and dying course when I attained my Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling.  He told us that we need humor especially when life gets in the way.  I thought he was off base at the time.  I now know the importance of his statement once I’ve experienced loss in my life.

I had a very warm and sweet father with a huge smile.  The only time he got mad at me was when I dyed my hair when I was 12 and it accidentally turned orange.  He pounded his hands on the ping pong table in my home in Oak Park MI and said, “Joyce, Why?  Why?” My mother and sister heard his loud words coming through the walls upstairs.  I told this story during his eulogy because I wanted to share this memory with our family and friends.  This story brought smiles to everyone listening.  That was the plan! 🙂

‘We honored the memory of Joseph Morris that day.  I even wore red.  Who wears red to a funeral?  This was my father’s favorite color.

I want to hear from you

What about you?  When have you used humor during a tough moment in your life?  How has humor helped you?  What humorous quotes do you use to get you through difficult times?

A Powerful Quote on Bullying in the Workplace

bullying in the workplace

This photograph sums up my opinion about bullies in the workplace!  Bullies don’t feel good about themselves.  They feel important by knocking down victims with their sarcasm or superior attitude.  They like manipulating others to gang up against the bully’s target.
