Talk to Both Star and Sub-Par Employees

     High Performance
     Middle Performance
     Low Performance

High Performance Conversations

1.  Tell them where the organization and the department is going.
2.  Thank them for their work.
3.  Outline why they are so important.
4.  Find out how you can support them with career planning or training possibilities in the future.

Middle Performance Conversations

1.  Tell them where the organization and department is going.
2.  Thank them for what they do.  Share good/positive qualities.
3.  Cover professional development qualities by using coaching strategies that I have shared in previous articles.
4.  Thank them again.  Reaffirm good/positive qualities.

Low Performance Conversations

1.  Describe what has been observed.
2.  Evaluate how you feel about this observation.
3.  Show what needs to be done.
4.  Tell them the consequences of continued same performance.
