Procrastination is a career buster!
This article contains two tips to get you unstuck.
Procrastination can keep us from advancing in our careers.
We all know this, but we sometimes think and plan too much. And the opportunity disappears.
Joyce’s Story How She Got Unstuck
See if this sounds familiar to you – “Should I or shouldn’t I? If I do this, that might happen, but if I do that, this could happen.”
Those words kept me up for several nights until I figured it out.
I wanted to take my show Kick Conflict to the Curb and make it a LIVE Broadcast. Instead, I thought about things that could go wrong. I kept procrastinating and only recorded interviews with thought-leaders. The next step was placing these interviews on social media. I felt stuck and couldn’t make the first move to learn how to go LIVE.
I decided that it was time to take the plunge. The next interview was going live! But, of course, there were technical issues, and I still needed to record the video without going LIVE. The great news is that after making a few more mistakes going LIVE, this communication coach finally gets it! 🙂
These Two Tips Will Help You Get Unstuck.
Tip One: Look for Several Options to Get You Unstuck
Ask people you know who succeeded in a project you want to pursue. They have faced similar feelings of doubt. Listen to their stories. This may stop you from doubting yourself. Permit yourself to move on.
A massive shout out to Trish Jenkins, TV Host, Speaker, and Author, for helping me along the way! She told me that doing a LIVE Broadcast is a game changer. She is right! I love producing my new show, Kick Conflict to the Curb, where I interview brilliant leaders on how they reduced their conflict and stress.
Tip Two: Take One Small Step to Get You Unstuck
Have you reached out to former clients who enjoyed working with you? Do you feel stuck and wonder if this will be too pushy? Your one action might be to call one of your past clients. Schedule this phone call with the client through email or text. This phone call could be your first step to continue building a solid relationship with your past client. And, remind him or her about how much you enjoyed working together. Catch up for a few minutes, and then ask if there is interest in you sharing your new services (in a non-selling way!) 🙂
I’m doing this and need to say one thing: A phone call with a former client is a great way to close a sale! It works. Plus, it’s so much fun catching up with each other.
