- Do you know why humility is so important these days?
- Have you thought about how others need to use humility more in their life? {Not sounding judgmental here, just asking. :)}
The video and article below describe the characteristics of why humility is so important. I will ask you a couple more questions at the end of this post. Sound good?
Why Humility is so Important Strategy 1: Humility is NOT a Weakness
Humility is:
- Knowing that you don’t have all the answers. This is a sign of strength!
- Realizing when you need help. Another sign of strength!
- This leads to Mastery because it’s all about self-improvement.
Zoom is a perfect example. I became a Certified Virtual Presenter through e-speakers. They taught me how to use all the gadgets like breakout rooms, chat, camera skills, and knowing what to do when you get kicked out due to power issues. We’ve all seen leaders on zoom and other platforms who crack under pressure if the screen isn’t’ shared or they don’t how to control the mute button when there are dogs barking or babies crying.
I now know why humility is so important after becoming certified. I’ve experienced the following challenges:
- the screen froze
- share screen function didn’t work
- the microphone wasn’t working
- the internet was weak and kept on kicking us out of the meeting
In the past, I was not in control of the meeting and let the technology issues take over the entire training. This was a hard lesson to learn. If I can do this, so can you! Now, the reality is that I laugh during virtual training when IT issues happen. I’m not in charge of the internet – neither are you! We can still be human and when this happens. People are very forgiving. When we are in control of a meeting, we need to be role models for those who may not understand why humility is so important. We need to show them that we are not perfect. Imagine that!
Why Humility is so Important Strategy 2: Joyce’s Challenge for YOU
I challenge you to:
1. Know when you need help. Remember this is a sign of strength. Masterminds are hotter than ever because they work. I’m in 2 and they have helped me and all the mastermind members grow constantly.
2. Stay curious. Keep taking classes. There is the BEST training on youtube. Online courses are easy to find. My click funnel experts, Doresa Ibrahim and Shasta Grifka are testing my humility at this time. They are teaching me a new platform to host our new online courses and contacts. It’s new, hard, and not fun to learn. Even though I realize that we will get through this after becoming more familiar with the A-Z client system, BUT it’s hard and I’m kicking all the way to the finish line. I’m being real here, dear readers! The good news is that being curious is what started us to find a better platform. Humility is kicking in for me for sure. It’s also hard to be patient. Thanks to Doresa and Shasta for being so understanding and it’s great that I trust both of them. Hopefully, they won’t fire me as a client for being so darn real. 🙂 Does this sound familiar to any of you?
3. Trust yourself when things are not perfect. Mistakes are part of mastery. You already know this. It’s still not easy showing our humility at times. It’s worth having such a belief in yourself and others who may be coaching you that you will get through it.
4. Be comfortable in your own skin. There will be times when discomfort appears. That’s also a good sign. This could mean it’s a learning lesson or life is telling you something new about your own humility. Pay attention. Learn. Be curious. It’s all good.
