- Would you like to know my secrets on how to become a better communicator by using training evaluations?
- Do you only concentrate on the negative feedback from your speech evaluations?
I know first hand how it is when we get negative evaluations. We have to train ourselves to learn from the feedback. Some of my clients take it personally. After working with me as their communication coach, they understand that this feedback could uncover their blind spots. This video will support your efforts and self-esteem.
Tip #1 to Become a Better Communicator
We have to remember that some people who fill out evaluations may not know the importance of constructive feedback.
I’ve received many comments that have helped me over the years and I appreciate the comments.
Then there are those comments that are not constructive and only critical evaluations that are mean spirited.
- I was told that I was too short. My height is something I can’t change and I still laugh at this today.
- An audience participant told me that my outfit was too colorful. My blouse was light pink.
- I saw someone fill out the evaluation before I even opened my mouth!
Tip #2 to Become a Better Communicator
The real lesson is to enjoy the positive feedback and learn from the constructive feedback that is valid. I remember one of my first training sessions when someone told me that my outfit was too noisy for them. They were right. I wore a black and white polka dot dress. That’s when I started to wear classic clothes for training. I learned and was open to feedback.
