Video on Coaching Skills to Use with Emerging Leaders

Are you a leader who has emerging leaders who are productive, yet weak with soft skills?
Do you want to know how you can help this employee?
If so you’re at the right place!

Many of you have been following my videos and blog posts since 2010 and I appreciate you!  For those who are new to my messages, you will see that I refer to several key communication strategies that help clients – kick conflict to the curb to get the results they deserve. Clients are emerging leaders, individuals, and organizations who want to reduce drama and find more peace in their life.

Coaching Skills with Emerging Leaders:  Meet Scott

I’d like you to meet Scott, an emerging leader who is one of the brightest stars in a midsized company.  There is only one reason why Scott did not get promoted. Scott had a blind spot and did not see what his leaders saw. Every time Scott opened his mouth, he had to prove to upper management that he was the brightest person in the room by sharing tons of details.  He got into the weeds.

Coaching Skills with Emerging Leaders:  Why did Scott’s Supervisor suggest coaching?

Leadership tuned Scott out when he gave reports in meetings. He knew he was not listened to but was unaware of his blind spot.  Scott was referred to me as a coaching client by his supervisor who believed in him. It took only a few sessions for Scott to recognize that he
gave too many details.  He admitted that he wanted to prove how smart he was.

Scott didn’t realize that this one communication barrier was stopping a promotion. He took a behavioral assessment that opened up Scott’s eyes to his strengths and areas to improve with his communication skills. In case you want to know the ending.  Yes, Scott worked on his soft skills and finally received a well-deserved promotion.

Are you interested in a promotion or career move?

Do you have direct reports or emerging leaders who need to improve soft skills? If so please call me on my cell:  248.325.8101 or send me an email. We can discuss several options to fit any time schedule and budget.  Also, feel free to ask for details on my new online course:  Kick Conflict to the Curb: Get the Respect You Deserve!  I’m starting another waitlist.  We will discuss the best choice for you or your direct reports.

Until next time,

Joyce Weiss, M.A., CSP
