Resolving Conflict and Interpersonal Issues with Tony Robbins

2010 August 4

I just finished the 2nd Breakthrough program in the series hosted by motivational coach, Tony Robbins.  I have been a student of Tony’s for years and actually walked on hot coals with him to overcome some of my own fears when I was changing careers.

He used strategies with his clients that made a lot of sense to me. I thought these strategies would be perfect to share with you – my blog readers. These ideas are not “fluffy” positive thinking statements.  These are solid ideas that do work.  I have used these strategies with my clients in my own coaching practice.  These ideas will help with your stress reduction at home or work.  You will learn tips on how to use an effective communication style.

  1. We need to look for the positives in a situation or a person even though we may only see the negatives at the moment.  This is a tough one yet necessary for us to move from being stuck in an interpersonal issue. What is one positive quality about your job or your coworker? It may take you a while to find it, but it is so important to start looking for one small positive in order to change the negative state that you may be experiencing.
  2. Learning and owning a lesson is an important part of the process in overcoming a challenge or conflict.  The reason why it is necessary to face our fears (which may be speaking honestly to a co worker or loved one) is that we all grow from the experience if the communication is effective and open. What did you and the other person learn about each other?
  3. We then need to design a compelling future to make sure that we don’t return to old habits.  What action steps will you take as a result of the communication or the lesson that you learned?
